Aha this post went from talking about staff to hating on lime; was quite funny tho. Btw we really didn't need to see the same thing repeated in a huge essay 6 different times
To, be honest I know I am being hated on, pretty much only by staff. This is an example. No one is perfect and just because you have staff means you are? Me saying that having real world problems is not acceptable is not what I meant. Having real world problems I can see. But being short on staff isn't fair for players especially if they are trying to do something or need help and no other staff member is on. Not to mention having good staff is about taking members ideas/thoughts into consideration. Is it really fair for us to have no say in anything? When clearly, we are kinda what makes the server a server. I really believe players thoughts should be taken in consideration.
To be fair, I haven't seen many times where there wasn't a staff member online besides me. I also stated in my post above that staff members aren't perfect, so I have no clue why you say it yet again. Sorry you're not satisfied with how things go.
conal is the only staff member i have respect for, all you other guys are just kissing up to phil and abusing ur power as staff members
I am sorry to say this, but how are you expecting us to take anything that comes from you even remotely serious?
Agree with this. ^ Also as for your post Bubbles, I for once think its good that you share your opinion with us. Its good for us to have feedback. Though i may disagree with most of what you say, i still think its good. First off, ill let you know, that every staff member has a limit on how many hours one have to be on each week. And some may take a break due to personal issues, or school. Health is, and will always be a number one priority that every single staff members have to take care about. We will never, ever force a staff member to come on the server if they are sick, at the hospital, taking care of anyone etc.. The list goes on! And remember the timezones make a huge difference when it comes to activity, when you go to bed, i wake up for school! Now as for me, Timo and Phil, we work a lot behind the curtains (As others have stated). We are a lot in /v, we guide other staff members. If say as an example Miner records a hacker, or comes up in a hard situation, he can message me any time of the day, and ask me for opinions, or guidance. And the same can i do with Phil, and Phil always replies! Remember some of us are grown ups and have work, college, sick parents, mental issues.. We all come on to have a good time, or make sure you, the players have.. Remember, in the end of the day.. Were all humans! (Except PulseX, i have a reason to think he is a intellectual AI)
Okay what if my family members died, I would put this video game over their death. You have to have irl problems, this game isn't their job it's volunteered.
I have taken the time to read every single post in this thread - I've just got in from work, have not yet eaten, but have already spent around 20 minutes reading this one thread alone. There is alot of opinion in this thread, and yes everyone is entitled to it and I respect every single one. We also DO listen to players opinions, hence I've just read every single one! In your post, you point out lots of, what I would call "staff management issues", particularly stating that certain people don't spend enough time on the server and that they should be removed, because it's unfair on players. While I agree to an extent, if someone applies for staff and is accepted, they should show committment and meet a minimum requirement. We monitor this weekly for every staff member (including for myself) - Timo does an excellent job of collecting this every Sunday for me, along with giving me his suggestions for anyone I need to talk to - this is NOT just a case of "Where have you been?" it can also be a case of "Is everything OK?". 80% of the team meets the requirements week in, week out, some regularly clocking over TWO DAYS ontime in a single week. Nobody here is paid - so what is the reward for us to do a good job? The only reason why we're all here, is because we care and we want to do a good job - I give the final choice on every single member of the staff team and I stand by each of my choices, I will also make the final decision if someone is removed, as will I speak to them if I think they've done something wrong, and hopefully they will agree that I always consider what I say, and it is fair. Regarding Vamp, I told him exactly what would happen if he didn't improve his behaviour, he was given the opportunity to change (after saying he would in his ban appeal) he didn't, so I did exactly what I told him I'd do, regardless if anyone agreed with the ban reason or not. We are all here to have fun, and If someone is constantly trying to destroy that, then why have them in the community? Isn't that kind of behaviour far more damaging than a staff member going on vacation? Regarding events, I think I've hosted more unplanned drop parties recently, than Tom hosted planned ones in the last 12-18 months. I don't even think that's an exageration either. I know I missed Koth last night which I was supposed to host, but I had to go help a friend with some work on his house, a job that took a little longer than I anticipated. Regarding my fairness, Cole will tell you that I am TOO fair, in that I hand out too many second chances. Regarding my time on the server, my daily routine is generally (if I have nothing else planned): 6:40am - get up 7:30am - get into work 5:30-6pm - get home from work midnight - bed I have to fit making myself food in somewhere after I get home (including going to get groceries if need be), washing my clothes, etc etc. I also go away roughly one weekend a month (sometimes two) and show's how good the team is, when they can cope with most issues without me. I'll then generally get on Skype, catch up with messages from the staff, head onto the server as well as read the forums - this can depend if there is something urgently needing my attention, like a bug or as conal said, logs needing to be fetched etc. (I've been writing this post for 40 minutes at least, by the way) As many others have said too, resets don't just build themselves. We've been working on 10.0 since the end of July. We want it to be 100% right. Which reminds me, I need to start writing the announcement post for the forums too, as well as finalising the changes we'll be having - the staff team don't even know what the finished article will look like yet, because it changes and evolves as I solve different issues, or see feedback in chat! In terms of people hating on you in this thread, they're not, they're just giving you their opinion on what you've posted - the trouble with which, by the way is you point out lots of things you see as an issue or that are wrong, but I don't really see any solutions within your post - what would you do differently?
Well bf 9 hasn't been the best due to the owner changing mid reset. Bf 10 will be more stable cuz it will be same owner throughout. And tom was going to kill beast as the server wasn't thriving enough, luckily Phil saved beast and made it more popular than before.
The vote should be anonymous, we don't need to know who said what, just how many ppl agree and how many disagree.
Not really, making it anonymous wouldn't make much of a difference, Xirthi does have a point, staff members are more active on the forums and thus more likely to vote. Which in terms makes the poll a little biased, that is why knowing who voted what exactly is not a bad thing.
The poll doesn't mean anything though, it is really un-specific and does not provide any solutions or specific problems.
